The Galleria

The video shows the application of a graphic the south elevation of the Galleria above the Hatfield Tunnel over the A1.

Contour worked directly with McDonald’s and liaised with Leo Burnett  and Land Securities for the creative origination and site access. The overall size at 54 meters x 10 meters consisted of 135 pieces of glass each covered with exterior grade vinyl printed at 600 dpi.

A sharp, colour true image was critical and Contour achieved this using the latest printing technologies. Contour handled the Health & Safety requirements and documentation  – quite a document as abseilers are required for this particular site.  Despite the tight time frame,  our team of abseilers removed the old graphics and applied the new graphics to give a stunning seamless image within 5 days.

Magnet

We worked closely with the Store design team at Magnet to develop a unique POS solution using glass graphic panels. The flexible concept allows the glass panels to deliver permanent & promotional messages and imagery in a clean & stylish way. This new POS was key to Magnet winning “Best UK Retail Interior”, beating the favourite Sainsbury’s Market place Concept Store at Conran’s Bluebird London. Following this success & the huge upturn in turnover Contour were appointed the long-term contract to rollout new concept POS to all Magnet’s stores, handling not just production but also installation.

“Magnet initially appointed Contour in 2002 to design and produce an innovative POS solution for our new 'concept' kitchen showroom in Chester. The Chester store went on to win the UK Retail Interior Award in 2003 - testimony itself to the design and quality of the POS produced- and Contour were subsequently appointed to roll out the POS solution to all 170 Magnet showrooms across the UK as part of a 5-year programme.

Contour have proved themselves to be forward thinking, pro-active and reliable when it comes to managing Magnet's various POS requirements. They have continuously stuck to deadlines and budgets and have adapted POS designs where necessary in order to provide the most cost-effective solutions without compromising on quality or durability.”

“I have worked with Contour Direct for many years now, and have always been delighted with the service I have received from them.Over a number of different retail projects, Contour have consistently delivered a first-class application of graphic and POS requirements, alongside a pro-active attitude to deliver creative solutions within the required parameters. For Superquinn in Dublin, Contour realised and installed all the internal signage and graphics for this re-modelled and re-branded supermarket chain format.

Working across a variety of mediums and applications, for external as well as internal elements, the end product in-store delivers a quality that is critical to the environment and the overall perception of this re-presented premium Irish brand. The two currently completed stores have been hugely successful, and a planned programme of refurbishment is now in place for the estate.

The perceived simplicity of the design format is headlined by the graphic treatment in-store, but as with most simple things, the quality and attention to detail become more important, and we have been thoroughly impressed by the level of execution by Contour, and look forward to an on-going relationship for this demanding retailer – obviously with longer lead times next time out!”

Chopard

From September 4th – 6th, Chopard held an exhibition at the Dorchester Hotel, London, followed by a further 2 days at the Carlton Tower Hotel, Knightsbridge.

The purpose of this event was to invite specific customers to view some of the more expensive and exquisite collections of jewellery and watches created by Chopard in a themed and stylish environment. For this, we created a woodland theme, consisting of 24 beautifully decorated showcases surrounded by 8ft high images of trees and foliage.

Taking into account the tight time frame, Contour, very professionally brought our vision to life. Contour created stand alone screens incorporating the images supplied by Chopard.

The huge amount of artwork and re-touching required was completed very quickly.

From my first meeting with Ian, I was very confident that the brief would be fulfilled. The level of service and customer care cannot be faulted at all from Contour. I can very confidently say they are a very willing, helpful, skilful and friendly team of people.

When faced with a technical problem, Ian and a team member very quickly came to our rescue to ensure the problem was immediately solved. I really felt there was a genuine need to want to help and that nothing was too much of a problem.

The quality of the work they produced for Chopard was perfect and very professional.

The brief was achieved and fulfilled by Contour 100% I now use Contour for all my visual needs as I know they will endeavour to help in any way they can, and often at very short notice.

Forest Without Leaves V&A Museum

Our client’s design was based on a concept by Iranian designer & film director Abbas Kiarostami. We were set the task to print 5m long tree bark images with the width exactly the circumference of various life sized cardboard tubes. Once we had wrapped the tubes with the print, the bark flowed across the join to create a seamless graphical tree. The 80 tubes were installed into their purpose built mirrored enclosure with stretched ceiling simulating the sky. The effect was a truly stunning woodland scene.
